Absent-Mindedness
Absent-mindedness is a state of forgetful inattention, where you're mentally elsewhere and miss details or forget recent events.
It's the opposite of mindfulness, often caused by boredom, distraction, or being lost in thought. For example, you might put your keys in the fridge because your mind was preoccupied. While common, it can be linked to conditions like ADHD or depression and may affect daily life.
Recognising a definition is not the same skill as spotting it.
Two scenarios from the app, with distractors drawn from the same family of biases — which is what makes them hard.
On his way to a dentist appointment, Mike stops to get gas and, after filling up, drives to work instead of the dentist.
Chloe is reading a recipe on her phone. She looks up to grab a spice jar, but when she looks back at her phone, she has to re-read the last three steps because she lost her place.
